Top 10 Best Steam Games (Our 2024 Picks)

When it comes to finding great games, it can be a bit challenging. There are thousands of games to choose from, but most of them might not be your cup of tea.

So we want to share what our top 10 favorite games on Steam are. Keep in mind that this is our opinion, so if you don't like any of these games, that is totally up to you.

10. Cult of the Lamb

In Cult of the Lamb, you take on the role of a possessed lamb saved from annihilation by a mysterious stranger. To repay your debt, you must build a loyal following in his name. This game blends roguelike action with base-building mechanics.

You venture out into a procedurally generated world to fight enemies, gather resources, and rescue followers. Back at your cult's base, you manage and grow your community, building structures, performing rituals, and maintaining your followers' faith.

The game's unique art style and dark humor create an engaging experience as you balance the duties of leadership with the chaos of combat.

It is also a great Steam Deck game since it isn't difficult to run at all. It is one of those games you can just sit back and relax as you play. It can get pretty difficult the farther you get into the game though. It is also very cheap compared to other games out there.

9. Elder Scrolls Online

The Elder Scrolls Online is a massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) set in the rich and expansive world of Tamriel. Players can explore the continent, uncovering ancient secrets, battling fierce enemies, and crafting their own stories within a vast, open-world environment.

The game features diverse character customization, allowing players to choose from multiple races and classes, each with unique abilities and playstyles.

Engage in epic quests, join guilds, and participate in large-scale PvP battles. Whether you prefer solo adventures or cooperative gameplay, the game offers endless opportunities for exploration and adventure in one of the most beloved fantasy universes.

It is one of those games that will suck you in for hundreds of hours and you won't even know where the time went. It is by far our favorite MMO to go back to and is great even if you are playing solo since most other big MMO games require you to play with others to progress.

8. Helldivers 2

HELLDIVERS 2 is a cooperative twin-stick shooter that thrusts players into intense, strategic combat as part of the elite HELLDIVERS unit.

Set in a dystopian future where freedom and democracy are protected through relentless warfare, you and your squad must work together to repel alien invasions threatening Super Earth.

The game emphasizes teamwork, with friendly fire always on, making communication and coordination crucial for survival. You'll deploy on diverse and hostile planets, facing hordes of enemies while managing limited resources and completing various objectives.

It actually had soo many people trying to play in the first month of launch that people had to wait in server queues for hours. It is still an amazing game that is totally worth getting into and has some of the best iterations of live-service you can think of.

7. Monster Hunter: World

Monster Hunter: World is an action-packed RPG where you take on the role of a skilled hunter, tasked with tracking and defeating massive, powerful monsters in a vast, living ecosystem.

Set in the New World, you'll explore diverse environments, from lush forests to arid deserts, each teeming with unique wildlife and challenges.

Whether playing solo or teaming up with friends in co-op multiplayer, the thrill of hunting, the satisfaction of mastering complex weapon mechanics, and the excitement of encountering increasingly formidable foes make the game a must-play for action RPG fans.

It is one of those games for us that we go back to every once and a while. We also can't wait for Monster Hunter Wilds which is coming out a year from when this video will drop.

6. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is a fast-paced first-person shooter that offers a deep and immersive experience across its three core game modes: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies.

Set in a dystopian future where advanced technology and cybernetic enhancements define warfare, the Campaign mode follows a group of elite soldiers as they uncover a dark conspiracy.

The Multiplayer mode introduces new movement systems, specialist characters with unique abilities, and a vast array of customizable weapons, offering high-octane competitive action.

The fan-favorite Zombies mode returns with a gripping narrative, featuring cooperative gameplay where players fend off waves of the undead while uncovering secrets and solving puzzles.

The campaign is pretty meh, but the Zombies is what keeps us interested in the game. We still play the Steam Workshop maps for Zombies and it seems like there is an unlimited amount of content to see in the game.

5. Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V is an open-world action-adventure game that immerses players in the sprawling, vibrant city of Los Santos, a satirical recreation of Los Angeles.

The game follows the intertwining stories of three distinct characters: Michael, a retired bank robber; Franklin, a young street hustler; and Trevor, a violent maniac with a knack for chaos.

Beyond the main storyline, the game offers a vast sandbox environment where you can engage in various activities like driving, flying, exploring, and causing mayhem.

The online component, GTA Online, expands the experience, allowing players to join others in a persistent world filled with missions, heists, and competitive modes.

We have spent most of our time in the Online mode and still to this day go back and see what they added to the game. Keep in mind that once GTA 6 comes out next year, GTA 5 will probably not be as big, but that is totally up to Rockstar if they want to keep the servers up for it.

In addition to the main quest, The Witcher 3 offers numerous side quests, contracts, and hidden secrets, making it a game where exploration and decision-making are richly rewarded.

It also has some of the best expansion content of most other games out there, coming close to Cyberpunk and Elden Ring. It is by far a great game that you should definitely play if you haven't already.

3. Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world action RPG set in the sprawling, neon-lit metropolis of Night City, where technology and body modifications dominate society.

You play as V, a mercenary outlaw with customizable abilities, seeking a one-of-a-kind implant that could be the key to immortality. The game offers a deep narrative experience with a branching storyline influenced by your choices, leading to multiple possible endings.

Night City is a dense, vertical world filled with various factions, characters, and hidden secrets. The gameplay combines first-person shooting, hacking, and stealth mechanics, allowing you to approach missions in diverse ways.

As you explore, you'll engage in intense combat, build relationships with complex characters, and delve into the dark underbelly of this dystopian future.

It also has one of the best comeback story of any game to date with its 2.0 release back in 2023 with the Phantom Liberty Expansion. They totally fixed the game and just added a ton of content to it. If you gave up on the game or you are completely new, go and give it a shot, you won't regret it.

2. Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic open-world action-adventure game set in the waning days of the American Wild West. You play as Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang, as they struggle to survive among lawmen, bounty hunters, and civilization.

The game features a deep and emotional narrative that explores loyalty, betrayal, and the cost of living outside the law.

The world is massive and insanely detailed, offering players a wide range of activities, from hunting and fishing to robbing trains and participating in shootouts.

The game’s realism is enhanced by its dynamic weather, realistic animal behavior, and lifelike interactions with NPCs. Whether you're following the gripping main story or getting lost in the numerous side quests and random events, the game offers a rich, immersive experience that captures the essence of the Wild West like never before.

It also has one of the best stories in all of gaming. We can't stress it enough how good the game is. It is like you are watching an insanely well-written show and you won't want it to end. If you don't like the game, then you must have really bad taste in games.

1. Any FromSoftware Title

FromSoftware is by far our favorite developer because they just don't miss with their games they release. Even Dark Souls 2 is fun in some areas. Whether you started with Elden Ring or Demon's Souls, there really isn't a bad game in the mix.

If you are new to the souls-like genre and you want to get into it, then we would recommend you actually start from the beginning and work your way through the games by date.

Start with Demon's Souls, then go to Dark Souls 1. You can always skip Dark Souls 2, but that is entirely up to you. Next play Bloodborne, and then Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Do Dark Souls 3, and then finish off with Elden Ring. Even Armored Core 6 is fun, but you can play that whenever since it isn't a souls-like.

A lot of people say to start with Elden Ring, but if you play it first, then you might not enjoy the other games as much. Elden Ring is a culmination of everything FromSoft has learned from all the previous games, so the others might not seem as good.
