How To Play Stardew Valley in 5 Minutes or Less

Stardew Valley looks easy to play, but believe us when we say that it is not easy at first. It is a very fun game, but you might be confused on what to do and how to optimize everything. So today, we will show you how to start and play Stardew Valley in 5 Minutes or Less.

If you're looking to dive into the charming world of Stardew Valley but are short on time, this quick guide is perfect for you. Stardew Valley is a beloved farming simulation game where you can cultivate crops, raise animals, explore mines, and build relationships with the villagers.

But with so many activities and options, getting started can feel overwhelming. In this guide, we'll break down the essentials so you can start your farming adventure and learn the basics in just five minutes or less.

Whether you're a beginner or need a refresher, you'll be ready to farm, fish, and forage in no time!

Step 1 - Choose your Farm type

The first thing you need to do is choose your farm type. There are 8 different farm types you can choose when you boot up the game and we will quickly go over each one.

The Standard Farm is the basic farm that is perfect for new players. It has the most tillable land for farming and is the best one to choose if you just booted the game up for the first time.

The Riverland Farm is the best option for those wanting to do a ton of fishing. It's great if you want to farm crops and fish at the same time.

The Forest Farm is great if you want an unlimited supply of Hardwood, which can be sold for a decent chunk of change. The Hill-top Farm is great if you want an easy supply or Ore and Stone.

The Wilderness Farm is great for people who want to fight monsters since it will have enemies spawn randomly around the property. The Four Corners Farm is great if you are playing with a ton of people. It cuts the farm into 4 spaces that you can dedicate to different people.

The Beach Farm is great for people who like to easily collect the Beach foragables and fish for Ocean fish. The last farm, the Meadowlands Farm, is perfect for people who want to raise animals.

If you are new to the game, just start with the Standard Farm to learn how to play the game.

Step 2 - Clear out Land and Start Planting

The first thing you should do when you start is to start clearing out your land. Once you get a big area opened up, start planting the Parsnip Seeds that you can find in your house.

Once you plant the Seeds, make sure to water them. If you run out of energy, just go lay in your bed to regenerate it. Make sure to water your plants every day with your watering can so that the plants will grow.

Once you have your land cleared and your plants planted, you can head to the next step.

Step 3 - Go visit every NPC

There are a ton of NPCs in the game and each one has something for you. One of the most important ones to talk to is going South of the town to the beach. Once you go on the dock, you can talk to someone that gives you a fishing pole.

This is another great way to earn money. Make sure to follow the NPC questlines because they have important information and rewards for you.

The other important NPC is Pierre. He is the owner of the store and this is where you buy more and more seeds for your farm. Half of the game is talking to the NPCs, so once you talk to every NPC that you can, you can move on to the final step.

Step 4 - Purchase Seeds and increase your Farm Size

As we said before, head to Pierre's shop and buy the next set of seeds to make your farm bigger. Make sure to have a plan of where you increase your farm so you can maximize profits.

When you wake up in the game, go water your plants. Go fish for a while, and sell the fish that you find. If you keep doing that, you will progressively get more and more money.
