I have always tried to look for great deals on games, and these 10 are by far the best lesser-known titles that I have found. Here are the 10 Steam games.
10. Witch Hunt
It is a challenging horror themed hunting game that takes place in the 18th century. Main focus of the game is on exploration, non-linearity, and atmosphere. It features lite RPG elements in the form of a financial system and a skill system.
You play as a witch hunter who took the task of eliminating all evil that settled in the woods near the town of Bellville. To achieve your goals, you’ll be able to use weapons, magic, and other tools that can be found and bought.
The developers also gave out a warning for whoever plays this game that if you don’t have patience and perseverance, then you may find this game to be very frustrating. It is not a long game, but it is a creepy one at that. If you like open-world horror, then definitely look into this game.
9. Limbo
It is a 2D puzzle-platformer that guides a young boy through a black and white game world in search of his sister. Along the way, you will run into deadly traps and people, and maybe even animals, with a physics system that adds to the experience.
The way the developers portrayed this world makes the game feel very eerie and it is associated with the horror genre, but at the same time, it is not. This game is one of the cheapest games on this list, and it is very easy to run, so if you like creepy platformers, then go check this game out for yourself.
It is generally short though so keep that in mind if you are going to buy it. I would also recommend the game Inside for anyone who is a fan of this game, but that game is usually $15 so it is just an honorable mention.
8. Spintires
It is a game that is based on off-roading with large vehicles. Yes, it might sound boring, but bear with me. You are given a mission to deliver different things like wood or other materials through harsh environments, and you have to get through the obstacles to complete your delivery.
It is a physics sandbox game where the mud, water, and environment are totally against you, and it makes you think differently than any other vehicle sandbox game that you have played.
The physics in this game is absolutely amazing and that is what gives this game its glory. If you like great physics in games, then go check it out for yourself.
7. Hydroneer
It is a mining sandbox game where you dig for gold and other resources to build massive mining machines and a base of operation. Use primitive tools, hydro-powered machines, and player-built structures to dig and evolve your operation in this tycoon-style progression system.
Using the voxel-based terrain system, you can create cave networks, quarry pits, or even mud mountains. Basically, you start from nothing and you eventually build up to a grand empire that makes a ton of profit. It sounds similar to other games of the genre, but it is a different take on the specific gameplay. It is actually a pretty good game for the price.
6. People Playground
It is a very simple game, but very fun at that. You can shoot, stab, burn, poison, tear, vaporize, or crush ragdolls. This game is for people who enjoy throwing around ragdolls but want it to be more detailed, satisfying, and feel freer while doing so.
I mean honestly, there is not much to say about this game other than you can just torture ragdolls all you want to. The physics in it is also extremely well done so you will enjoy every second you play this game.
If you have ever played totally accurate battle simulator, this game is a smaller version with better physics. You can place down ragdolls and do whatever you want to them. It sounds weird but it is very fun.
5. In Silence
It is a multiplayer horror game. One player takes on the role of the monster who has hypersensitive hearing abilities and is almost completely blind. The other players play as survivors, trying to escape or hunting the monster.
It is much different than those other Dead by Daylight clones, but this one is much different. In the other clones, you could only hide from the monster, but in this game, you can trap it and complete the objectives without worrying about it.
The monster is also very blind to silence so you have to use your wits and the help of friends to outsmart the monster and defeat it. Be sure to play with friends because you want the best communication to complete your mission.
4. Totally Accurate Battlegrounds
It was originally made as an April Fools’ parody of the Battle Royal genre and the game Totally Accurate Battle Simulator. Jump onto an island from flying trucks, find a gun, survive and look silly while doing it, find and eliminate all your opponents to win the round.
The people in the game are called weirdos and you basically walk weirdly around the map and strive to be the last one standing. It is a fun game and even funnier to watch, so go check out this battle-royale parody because it is also a fun game too.
3. Hotline Miami
It is a high-octane action game overflowing with raw brutality, hard-boiled gunplay and skull crushing close combat. Set in an alternative 1989 Miami, you will assume the role of a mysterious antihero on a murderous rampage against the shady underworld at the behest of voices on your answering machine.
Soon you’ll find yourself struggling to get a grip of what is going on and why you are prone to these acts of violence. It is a pixel game, but it is one of the best pixel games that actually pull off being a brutal game. The soundtrack is absolutely incredible and there is surprisingly a lot of content given to the player. Go check this game out.
2. Kingdoms and Castles
It is a game about growing a kingdom from a tiny hamlet to a sprawling city and imposing castle. You start out with pretty much an empty lot, and you slowly build up your village. Strategically layout your town to improve your peasants’ happiness and to attract new residents.
Tax them just enough to fund your castle. Make sure your peasants are fed in the winter and healed of plagues. Build churches to keep them from despair and taverns to keep them happy.
You can even throw festivals if you’ve built a town square. It is honestly a great game, but I am disappointed that it is only single-player in its current state. Other than that, it is a great game.
1. Terraria
I know I said I was not going to put well-known games on this list, but you know I have to put Terraria on this list. It is honestly the best game that you can get for under $10, but there are people that don’t like the game.
If you don’t know what this game is, I don’t know where you have been the past 10 years, but I’ll explain what it is anyway. Similar to Minecraft, you start out in a 2D world with nothing.
As you dig and explore, you will find more and more stuff and will eventually fight bosses and explore even more difficult biomes. If you have never heard of it, go watch some gameplay to see if you want to play it. In my opinion, it is the best cheap game your money can buy.
