1. It is on Steam
The first reason you should play the Old Republic is because they finally put the game on Steam. Yes, finally. Before, I thought about playing it, but it stopped me because I didn’t want to download another launcher onto my computer.
All those other MMO titles have you install another launcher, but in my opinion, they just clutter up your disk space too much. I like having everything placed into one single location, like Steam in this instance, so I don’t have to clutter up my desktop with unnecessary downloads. For this reason alone, I would say the game is worth playing.
2. It is Free-to-Play
The second reason you should play the Old Republic is that it is Free-to-Play. There are a lot of free games to play that are out there, but this one is one of the best. The developers for this game are the same people who brought you Knights of the Old Republic years ago.
I know there are a lot of people out there that can’t really afford great games, but this game is a masterpiece that you don’t have to spend a single dime in if you don’t want to. There are some things you can spend real money on, but just the free stuff in the game alone can keep you interested for thousands of hours.
3. It is Star Wars
The third reason you should play the Old Republic is the fact that it is Star Wars. Yes, you might be a Star Wars fan and not know anything the game has in it other than the fact that it is Star Wars, but if you know anything about the Old Republic with comics or older games, you will appreciate everything the game offers you.
You can travel to planets like Tatooine or Alderaan. There are so many things to explore and there are constant lore objects you can look at and read. Even if you aren’t a Star Wars fan, you might enjoy this game because it is similar to a lot of other MMO games.
4. It has great combat
The fourth reason you should play the Old Republic is that the combat is great. It reminds me so much of Knights of the Old Republic, with the exception of you being able to pause the game and figure out your next move. Depending on the class you chose, there are different stories for each one and you can either take the light side of the dark side.
Each class also can have a companion to help fight and heal you just like the older game and you can also use class-specific movesets that you will use to defeat all of your foes. The combat is great and the amount of missions the game gives you is incredible.
5. It has a ton of content
The fifth reason you should play the Old Republic is the amount of content in the game that is totally free for you to have. Yes, there are a ton of paid expansions you can get access to by Subscribing to their monthly subscription, but you get thousands of hours of content by just playing the free stuff.
I saw someone who had 7 characters and each character had over 2,000 hours on each of them. As I said before, this game is highly addicting so if you are going to try it, make sure to keep that in mind.
