There's something about party games that just feel nostalgic, probably because most of us grew up playing Mario Party, Mario Kart, and tons more. There are obviously popular games like Jackbox, the new Mario Party games, and others, but sometimes it's hard finding party games on both Steam and that are free.
Well, we did some digging and found what we consider to be some of the Best Free Party Games that you can play right now on Steam.
Super Totally Ultimate Dad Showdown
Starting off this list we have Super Totally Ultimate Dad Showdown is an up-to 4 player Co-op game with a few different minigames to choose from. You can either play split-screen, online through steam remote play, or with bots. I do wish you could play without using the steam remote play, sometimes that just gets so buggy, but I will say this game is probably best with local Co-op anyway.
Right now there are only three game modes but I hope they add more later, right now there is Baby stroller race, which is pretty self explanatory, The Dad Depot, where you have to gather items in a store before the other dad's get them. And Penny Pincher, Where you gotta basically manage your kids being bad.
The minigames are pretty fun, I mean with only three you can only play for so long but honestly, it's a solid game and a great party game to have in your Steam library.
SMYS : Classic
SMYS: Classic is a 2-4 player game where really the goal is to just outbuild the people you are playing with. It's a pretty basic concept but it's actually fun when you get into it. The rounds that you play against your friends are infinite too.
Oh, and the game is either played Co-op or through Steam remote play. So you'll likely be playing this one in person.
Think Tetris but more competetive and against friends. Now, I don't think this one will give you hours and hours of gameplay but it could be just another in your roster of games to play with friends, maybe even when waiting for your other games to finish downloading.
Deducto
Deducto is basically an Among Us type game but it's 3D and many people consider it being a funnier version of Among Us. It's the same concept too, you have to vote the murderers out or kill everyone depending on which role you have.
I personally love how it's 3D and the graphics and overall atmosphere of the game is just funny. It's one of those games you'd find yourself playing late with your friends.
The game really shines with the proximity chat and just overall goofy nature. If you like the Among Us experience but you're looking for a different spin on it, this is definitely worth looking into. Not only that but the game still has a consistent player base.
Party PooperZ
Party PooperZ is a local co-op game where you and the people you are playing with are all throwing your own parties. Your goal is to steal the people from the other parties and put them in your party. The person with the most guests in their party by the time the time runs out wins.
There are also weapon pickups that spawn in that you can use to temporarily knock out your opponents. I've seen this game mode in a lot of other games before, I know a similar one is in Fall Guys and I think even in Mario Party.
Party PooperZ is a bit more chaotic then those though, the play area is so small anything can happen. It's not a game you'd be playing for hours and hours but it's fun to boot up every now and then.
Molementum
Molementum is a game where you play as a mole criminal and your objective is to mine through and steal valuables. You're also competing against your friends to gather the most gems by the end of the game too. You don't only mine for gems but you also unlock and get specific upgrades that you can use for your advantage.
Each match is timed and things get pretty interesting as the time starts to run out. The game can be played with up to 4 player online PvP. Lots of people like the game because it's sort of a meme but it's also just a fun game in general to play with your friends. We definitely recommend this one.
J-Jump Arena
J-Jump Arena is by far one of the most unique titles on this list. The game is an online PvP or single-player game that's turn-based. If you decide to play multiplayer, you can have up to 10 people play. Before I get into the gameplay, I wanna mention that there are unlockables, customizable characters, various game modes, and more.
So it's got a lot to offer, as for the gameplay, I mentioned it's turn-based, and everyone's actions play out. So you need to both predict what your enemy is doing and also move towards the game's goal of jumping to the finish line of the round.
There are also tons of power-ups you can get along the way, like grenades, pistols, or grenade launchers. That also factors into the gameplay too. It's just a really fun game and unique, so you should definitely check this one out.
One-armed Cook
One-armed Cook is very similar to the game Overcooked. Basically, it's the same concept but instead of it being an above view it's first-person and you only have one arm to cook with.
It's 4 player online co-op and the way the game plays out is you need to work together with your team to fulfill the customer's orders. It gets very chaotic fairly early on but that's what makes it fun.
It's a fun game, I always suck at games like this so it usually ends up bad for me. This one is very janky too and the type of jank that's on purpose too. Fun game and worth having in your Steam library.
Chickenoidz Super Pre-Party
Chickenoidz Super Pre-Party is both an online PvP and local split screen game that's a top down arena shooter. You play as chickens and you pick up various guns, equipment and mutations to take out the people you're playing against.
Each match is 10 minutes, so it's sort of the perfect length if you're looking for a local or online party game to play with friends. There are also a lot of different ways to play, there is free for all, PvE, 2v2s, 3v1s, and more. It's got a lot of polish for a free game, and I am very impressed with the game overall. It's a must have for your library.
MultiVersus
MultiVersus is probably the best Super Smash Bros alternative you can play on the computer. It's also on consoles too. The characters are from popular Warner Brothers-owned properties and there always seem to be new characters being added in.
I am a huge Smash Bros fan, so this game naturally needed to be on the list. I still don't think it measures up to Smash Bros, but it's a close second. I will warn you though, be ready to rage if you're competetive in any way, especially if you play online against randoms.
This one is solid, even if you don't play it frequently, it's nice to have a game that you can hop on and play with friends either online or on the couch for a party or something. Definitely one of our most recommended free party games to get for your Steam roster.
